In this thesis, 13 species and subspecies of weed-millets of the genera Digitaria, Echinochloa, Eleusine, Panicum and Setaria were analysed and compared in their germination, their development and their distribution in Lower Austria. Germination tests, carried out under certain conditions (darkness; 10C, 15C, 25C), generated big differences between the species. Weed-millet species were also tested in an outdoor-experiment in 2007. Some species showed similarities in their development, while others showed remarkable differences. 8 different weed-millets were found within the survey of the millet-distribution in Lower Austria in 2007: Digitaria sanguinalis, Echinochloa crus-galli, Eleusine indica, Panicum capillare, P. miliaceum ssp. ruderale, Setaria pumila, S. verticillata, S. viridis.
